You are probably asking if her personalithy disorder, or his trying to be nice, creates a defense to a charge of battery (or assault, or mayhem, or attempted murder). It does not in my state. Insead, once she was convicted the prosecutor would show that her condition was an enduring condition, and that she would be dangerous in the future, and use that to seek a longer sentence.
